The Public Works team is responsible for maintenance of municipal roadways, the water and sewer networks, parks and green spaces, and all municipal buildings and infrastructure.

The team is made up of a dozen regular employees, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, and the departmental Director who reports to the Director General.  Several seasonal employees are also part of the team.

The Director organizes, guides and supervises maintenance operations on roads, our fleet of vehicles, the water system, sewer system, buildings and parks, according to the budget adopted by Council.  He works out estimates for purchases of services or equipment, or for any work to be carried out by third parties.

The budget for this department represents more than one third of the Municipality’s total budget, not including special projects or by-laws adopted during the course of the year.

Thanks to the multidisciplinary skills of team members and the quality of local entrepreneurs, the Municipality is able to carry out large-scale projects of high quality at a reasonable cost.

The Public Works department manages and maintains:

• 102 km of streets and roads;
• 60 km of municipal water pipeline;
• 3.6 km of sidewalks
• 268 fire hydrants and 578 valves
• 4 wells and pumping stations for drinking water (Xavier, Chicoine, St-Adolphe, Continental)
• 6 booster stations (Le Familial, Mtée 2e Rang, Val-David-en-Haut, Diana, Air pur, Campeau)
• 4 water reservoirs (St-Adolphe, Air pur, Campeau, Continental)
• 3 sewer pumping stations (Mt-Césaire, Dion, des Bleuets)
• 37 km of domestic sewers and 507 manholes
