Water and Sewers

Maintenance of the municipal water system includes:

• Daily inspection of pumping stations;
• Regular inspections of booster stations, reservoirs and underground storage chambers;
• Calibration of water flow measuring devices;
• Management of water control products (Ph, chlorine);
• Management of water quality (weekly analysis by a certified lab);
• Repairs of water leakages;
• Connections to municipal water system;
• Inspection and repair of fire hydrants;
• Program of unidirectional flushing of the network.

Maintenance of the sewer system includes:

• Sewer line scouring program;
• Repair and maintenance of all parts of the sewer system;
• Sewer connections;

Domestic sewer systems

All proprietors must install safety valves on horizontal connections used for waste water.

If a proprietor neglects to install or maintain such safety valves, the Municipality will not be held responsible for damage caused to the building or its contents as a result of flooding caused by a sewer back-up.

It is strictly forbidden to connect any agricultural drain, gutter runoff from roofs, French drain, floor outlet, sump pumps, etc., to the domestic sewer system.

Only one connection to the domestic sewer system is permitted per household.

Temporary opening and closing of the water supply
With 48 hours notice

For seasonal residents who do not live in their homes during the winter, it is recommended that the water supply from the municipal system be closed.  Opening of the water supply in spring and closing in fall must be carried out by Public Works’ employees.  The work will be carried out upon request, on weekdays (working days) only.
