The Town Planning department oversees the issue of permits and the application of Town Planning regulations.
A permit or certificate is required for all works, as follows:
- construction, renovation, repair and extension of buildings, demolition;
- sanitary installations and water catchment;
- construction or installation of retaining walls, embankments, fences and hedges;
- housing developments;
- installation of signs or advertising (permanent or temporary);
- installation of swimming pools;
- tree felling;
- domestic burn-off.
Other activities are subject to restrictions, prohibition and/or obligations:
- garage sales;
- snow removal;
- installation of tempos and snow fences;
- chimney cleaning;
- use of drinking water for watering grounds;
- use of fertilizer and pesticides;
- interference or other activity within the littoral zone (lakes and streams).
