Town Planning Master Plan
The Master Plan is the planning document, which sets out the major guidelines for the spatial and physical organization of the Municipality. It also outlines an overall vision of the future development of the Municipality.
Among other things, the Master Plan:
- ensures coherence between housing, businesses, transportation, protection of the environment, recreation facilities and municipal equipment by taking into account the potential and the constraints of developing both the natural and urban environment, and the expectations of citizens and community groups;
- defines policies of intervention with respect to the implantation of equipment and infrastructure, such as parks and green spaces, recreational and cultural equipment, road infrastructure, cyclepaths, parking areas and water supply, while considering the needs and financial situation of the Municipality;
- coordinates the actions and investments of the various municipal departments;
- promotes a vision of the kind of development desired to investors and various other agents involved in development, and seeks to make the local population aware of the various developmental issues arising;
- makes known the intentions that the Municipality may wish to establish with respect to controlling town planning by-laws (zoning, housing developments, architectural implementation and integration, regulation of non-conforming uses and structures, nuisances, special or individual projects, etc.).
