The St-Jean-Baptiste Christian Community is an association of all citizens of Val-David belonging to the Catholic faith and is part of the Parish of Sainte-Agathe.
The Val-David Church, which was preceded some years earlier by a chapel, was built in 1920. The building still retains a religious vocation today, but is also used as a community hall thanks to an agreement between the Parish and the Municipality. Mess is celebrated on Tuesdays and Fridays at 4 p.m. and Sundays 9:30 a.m. Baptisms take place on the first Sunday of each month, weddings can be organized upon request and various types of funeral services can also be arranged. Catechism classes are held in the church. It is necessary to register.
A representative of the local pastoral committee sits as a church warden on the Sainte-Agathe Parish Council, which regroups six Christian communities in the area. Each community has to provide for its own needs in order to survive. Income for each community comes from the collection of tithes and various fundraising activities. An agreement with the Municipality allows certain costs related to heating, electricity and maintenance to be shared, in return for use of space in the building as a community hall.
